I recently went into the local VA for a checkup, while waiting in the waiting room an elderly gentleman came up to me and said I would like to thank you for your service and handed me this card. I was really caught off guard by this, I was only in the Army for 6 years and it was 20 years ago and I had never heard that before from someone outside of my family. I asked the man if he was there waiting on an appointment, he said no, he has his daughter drive him around from time to time for the sole purpose to hand out these cards. While speaking to the man, I find out he is a WWII vet himself and he had lost his son in Vietnam, he said he just wanted to let people know, that at least he appreciated what we have done. I couldn’t hardly speak after hearing that, I would like to personally Thank You for starting this, I hope to be able to pass this on and teach my boys to Thank a Vet when you see one!
Sincerely, Gene Hughey
